Every meaningful venture begins with a spark. Ours was ignited in the sacred town of Kanchipuram, during quiet moments of reflection at the Sri Kanchi Kamakshi Amman Temple. Blessed with spiritual inspiration and a profound respect for India's living cultural heritage, Bhavya Expo was founded to bring the finest expressions of Indian art and skill to the world stage.

The Town
Kanchipuram — the silk city of the south
Everything we export begins in one town, and that town is the reason the cloth is what it is.
A weaving town, not a factory town
Kanchipuram sits about 75 km from Chennai in Tamil Nadu. Known as the city of a thousand temples, it has been a silk-weaving centre for centuries — the craft is carried by household looms in neighbourhoods like Pillaiyarpalayam, Sevilimedu and Thirupputkuzhi rather than by mills.

The motifs on a Kanchipuram saree are drawn from the town itself: temple gopuram borders, mango buds, peacocks, rudraksha checks and yaali figures. What is carved in stone on the Kailasanathar and Ekambareswarar temples reappears in zari on the border and pallu.
Protected by a GI tag
Kanchipuram silk carries Geographical Indication Tag No. 28, so the name belongs only to sarees genuinely woven in the notified Kanchipuram cluster. Pure mulberry silk is combined with tested or pure zari, and body, border and pallu are woven separately and interlocked by hand — the korvai join that gives the saree its weight and longevity.
